well, this is the last post ill make. one day you little kids with your salon colored mohawks and acoustic guitars who think your so very enlightened will realize that there is something in punk rock that is beyond your peaceful little world of large venue shows and getting stares at the mall. You who think punk rock is all about expressing yourslef and doing what you feel. The REAL world of punk rock and Oi! is founded upon a very specific set of rules and the law of the boot. As dumb as "the law of the boot" may sound it is infact very much a reality. In the working class pubs of south chicago, south boston, the queens, etc. you will find a world with both bark AND bite, where it is kill or be killed, the true nature of punkrock has nothing to do with the bullshit unity preached by so many fashion morons. It's an escape from a long week at work in a steel mill or lumber yard to a world of beer and aggression. NOW, I opted to not take up this life, I agree with you, i was tired of beating the shit out of people like you, hate is not the answer as i thought it once was, and i now am paying my way through school so as to get away from the world of gang politics. BUT be aware, there are MANY who do not share my epiphany and WILL beat up people 8 years younger than them for the simple act of talking shit. Just be aware, as you sit behind the safety of your computer, that if you ever do care to venture into the real word of this genre that you seem so interested in, it is far less embracing than Mark Unseen and Jake Casualty make it seem and talking shit about a band thats been around for far longer than you have may very well incite the rage of someone far less intellegent than I. Take it as you will, and by all means remain in your safety bubble, but dont act like you know it all unless you have actually lived it. I was once like you, i really was, idealist to the core, and ive got news for you, it took being dragged to the hospital first with a broken jaw and a stab wound to make me realize that people in this "scene" dont take well to punks talking shit, even if i was right. I hope for your sake you can avoid all that. In the end, maybe i came down to hard on you guys, you are entitled to your opinions, and this whole argueing over a web site is pretty dumb on all of our parts. Just try to keep and open mind, dont rip on shit just cause you dont like it and know what your getting into before you start.

thats the best you can come up with? and just so you do know i WAS one of those skinheads that i "never met" and ran with the South Side Skinheads in Chicago from age 16 to 20, just thought id explain that I, not some people you think ive never met, would have been one of the people beating the shit out of you with brass knuckles about ehh, 2 years ago, but ive outgrown that bullshit, now i just wander Skaspace with nothing better to do than scold children who's best insult is "your gay" and think that Rudeboy only applies to the original members of that said cult who lived in Jamaca and robbed banks. I guess by that logic, you must have been born in London in 1960 and still live in a squat at the ripe old age of 47 doing heroin. god this is so much fun...

and this is why i thank god for 21 and up shows, and skinheads to keep your punk asses in line...

You Guys^ Know nothing of TRUE SKA

Score: 1
This album holds the real feel of ska. The music is 2Tone, Traditional, Dub and rocksteady, not jsut punk rock with horns like LAX (LAX is NOT a ska song as it lacks upbeats). These genres are to original ska, without which, the third wave wouldnt even exsist. Oh, and as for "moshing in the pit" at ska shows, YOU DONT FUCKING MOSH AT SKA SHOWS! you dance, and only dance, people who mosh are the ones who ruin ska shows and who i take great pride in seeing some skin shit kick them. MOVING ON, The lyrics are not some stupid teenage whiney crap about finding yourself, they are about partying and the rudeboy underground, the world of tonic suits, skinheads, and scooters that you guys probably dont even know exsists as your no doubt to young to go to bars. In closing, i hope that the band finally grew up out of their angst (dont worry you will all too, i was once one of you), and keep their sound going in this fantastic direction. Now dont get me wrong, I enjoy the 3rd wave ska, my band plays it, BUT we do not bitch about politics, and certainly dont allow moshing. I even enjoy thrashy punky ska sometimes, granted i usually think the anarchy rhetoric (if it exsists) takes away from the song, but its enjoyable, i even like LAX, although i must confess, it is by far not my favorite song. So kiddies, if your looking for angst, punky guitars, and are planning to mosh at shows, go see the Causalties and leave the ska to those of us who get it...

Bitchin' Camero!

If you like any sub-genre of ska music this is an album for you. Big D, who does pay homage to their roots with a wide range of reggae, rocksteady, and and occasional Specials cover, has allways been more of a ska punk outfit at its core. This album however, sees the band moving in a very new direction with only two songs on the whole album having substancial punk rock elements. Unlike their last full length effort, 2004s "How it Goes" which was very experimental including everything from hardcore to Coltrain mixed in with their infectious ska-punk fevor, "Strictly Rude" is mostly a distortion free forey into the world of Dub Reggae, 2Tone, & tradition ska sounds. This is not to say that the album in inaccessable to modern ska-punk fans. Every present throughout the album is the distinct yell/chant vocals the band is famous for, and all songs including the more ambient dub are extremely catchy. This is an album that everyone in the ska scene, from pre-teen RBF fans to moonstomping traditionalists can enjoy.
